Beats & Rhymes
Using
a small music studio set up, including computer, sampler, mixing
desk, microphones and small P.A. system, the producer can work
individually with up to 10 students at a time (4 - 5 is ideal),
rotating them through various disciplines of song writing, beat
making, and recording.
Sessions should last at least 2-3 hours in order for the participants
to gain a sense of the creative process and achieve a tangible
result. Ideally workshops should be held over a full day, enabling
the creation of a finished recording by the end of the day. This
can end up as a tape or cd. Many styles of music covered, including
Hip Hop, R n’ B, Dance, 2 step Garage, Ragga, Drum n’
Bass, Pop and Indie. Any participant is welcome to bring songs,
instruments, lyrics to the sessions etc.
In
addition, there are a selection of male and female singers, rappers
and poets who can work alongside the producer, increasing the
breadth of skills on offer as well as the number of participants
in a workshop (up to 20). The vocal tutors can teach and display
many different styles of singing and rapping, and have good skills
in bringing out the best from the students, tackling interesting
and issue based subjects for their material.
