Creative Writing
Creative
writing isn’t about learning to write properly! It isn’t
about spelling and grammar: it is a way to express, discuss, illuminate
and laugh at the lives we lead and all that happens around us. It
allows us to be emotional and express things that would be hard
to say out loud, even to friends and family.
The
creative writing workshops are designed to tap into young people’s
experiences and language and enable them to develop real skills
that will be of real benefit throughout their lives.
Using
personal experiences, music and visual prompts, each student will
be lead through a series of exercises that will encourage and produce
a collection of short pieces of work. The workshop will result in
each student reading and/or performing their piece to the rest of
the group and the possibility of collecting the work created into
a book/magazine.
Workshop
leader Dee Reynolds has been writing for many years and her work
includes short stories, plays and film scripts. She is currently
writing her first novel.
